Since the riots began many retail stores haven been broken into and robbed. Some of these stores were Apple retail stores. Luckily for Apple, looters who stole a iPhones or iPads will realize they are absolutely useless. If stolen devices leave Apple's Wi-Fi network they will become unable to use. This is smart for Apple because even though they are still losing devices, eventually people will realize that the devices do not work and slowly start to stop looting Apple retail stores. After doing homework for most of my day I will go outside and fly a drown I own. This drone is an Avier Rival and is has some cool features. It is a quadcopter drone with live-view HD Wi-Fi camera. The Rival has precision controls which can allow you to do many stunts and tricks. It can hover around on its own and has a 22 minute life long battery that is easy to be recharged. When I first used the drone it was hard to control but I quickly got the hang of it. I was able to do easy stunts and take some pictures.
During the school closure I have been having some online classes with my teachers through a website/app called Google Meet. Google Meet allows me to have one on one discussions with my teachers or I can have a class with my classmates. Google Meet has a cool feature that automatically shows you if a scheduled call is coming which helps your remember if you have a class or not. It is also easy to use. Something Google Meet could fix though is its camera choice. If you make one noise the main screen will have your camera. This makes so that the main screen constantly switch between different peoples' cameras. They should make an option so that all cameras are on the screen so that their is no screen switching when someone makes a noise. If you want to try out Google Meet, download the app or go to www.google.com/meet.
For the past weeks I have been staying home due to the closure of my school. School was closed because the COVID-19 virus was spreading fast and we needed to mitigate. So now I am stuck at home with technology to entertain me. With technology I have been able to communicate with friends and play video games with them. Though I have technology, it would be better to see my friends. After gaming for awhile I will start to get bored and try to think of something else to do like watching a movie. Technology has also been used for remote learning which started this week. I may not enjoy this but it is a part of life. With the help of technology I have been able to turn this time away from school into something entertaining.
Last week in help desk we have been flying drones. The drone that I flew was called a Tello drone. A Tello drone is a small flying device that you can control. You can control it with your phone or a controller. There is also a camera attached to the drone so you can take pictures and videos with it. Along with being able to fly it with manual controls you are able to code the drone. You can make it do cool stunts and tricks. If you want to start flying a drone download the Tello app and hopefully you have enough money to buy a Tello Drone. Go to this website for the Tello drone and accessories https://store.dji.com/shop/tello-series
In Help Desk I have been working on a game on Unity. It is one of the tutorial projects any user can take where you edit a game that was already made. The tutorial I am working is a platformer game that is kind of like Super Mario Bros. The tutorial teaches you how to change properties of objects, adding prefabs, and changing the platforms it can be played on. Though you have to learn to coding with another resource, Unity's tutorials teach you the basics and how to use it's program. If you want to start going through a tutorial to create your own game go to https://unity.com/
In Help Desk lately we have been working with something called AWS. AWS stands for Amazon Web Services. This program involves working with Chatbots and creating them. Chatbots are computers that can talk to you and assist you with tasks. Some examples of Chatbots are Siri, and Alexa. Both of these Chatbots talk to you based on what you tell them. If you want to start making your own chat or today go to https://aws.amazon.com/
Recently in Help Desk we have been using a website called Talent Box. Talent Box is a website were you can get tutorials on different computer related activities. I am currently learning how to create a simple 3D game on Unity. I am working on 2D movement on a 3D object and getting it to jump. It is very helpful because you can have no experience at all and be able to learn how to create a game. To start a tutorial of your choice go to https://talentbox.app/.
During the first weeks of Help Desk we used a program called Unity. Unity is a game engine used to create many games you might of heard of like Kerbal Space Program or Wasteland 2. The Help Desk classes started off by doing tutorials on making a racing game. It teaches you how to change colors, values and create buildings. It also taught you how to share your newly designed game. When you use Unity imagination is the limit. You can create many games you think of and share them with friends to play. If you want to try programming your own game visit: https://unity.com/ New User Micro-Game: Karting Tutorial on Unity
